Labour party Spring Conference

Fringe Event - Question-time

“Is there the Political Will for Justice in Trade and Debt?”

The intention is to start at about 5.00pm and collect questions that can then be sorted and used to guide the meeting.  So if you want to ask a question, please email question-time@tjm-manchester.org.uk it to us in advance or hand it in at the meeting (and keep a copy!).

The Format is intended to follow the BBC1 Question-time with the chairman ensuring interaction between panellists and the audience, so its not just asking questions!

The panel has been selected to represent Government, especially with respect to the WTO Doha Development round, and MP Michael Wills who campaigns for reform of CAP, Ann Pettifor who many will remember as the Director of the most successful world-wide campaign ever, Jubilee 2000 to champion the debt issue and a speaker to keep the discussion focussed on the needs of the South.

To be constructive, there is little point in simply berating the Government, it has to work in a world of Real Politic which needs international consensus.  Hopefully we will have questions about the political barriers to CAP reform in Europe, on the political challenge of meeting the Millennium Development goals when any reduction in subsidies looses votes, etc

It would help the organisation if you could let us know if you plan to come along and to send your questions to

question-time@tjm-manchester.org.uk

Don't let it stop you coming if you haven't booked ahead!
